HONDURAS - 121 Direct Trade
Altitude: 1450 - 1600m
Characteristics: An organically produced coffee with notes of dark chocolate, green apple and panela. Rich with mild sweetness and a hint of acidity.
Acquired through the '121 Direct Trade' project which ensures that the farmer gets 70% of each bag we buy! 'Fair Trade' and 'Rainforest Alliance' certified.
Further Information: "During my trip to Honduras in March 2019, I stayed a night at the ‘Cafe Capucas Cooperative’ where I was delighted to meet up with Fausto, the farmer of this coffee.
'Cafe Capucas', under the management of José Omar, is a beautiful and diverse organisation which develops different projects all aimed at improving the quality of life of its producers."
The coffee is harvested at its optimum ripeness and handed in at the cooperative. It is then washed, dried in a solar dryer, and stored in parchment before being trucked to the port of 'Puerto Cortés'. 'Capucas' were the first in the country to build a facility to dry microlots on a large scale with solar dryers.
