The AeroPress is the first coffee maker that combines affordability and simplicity with the ability to produce top quality coffee.
The History of the Aeropress
AeroPress, Inc. is the manufacturer of the AeroPress coffee maker, an innovative coffee press beloved by a multitude of global fans. The company is owned by founder, inventor, and Stanford University engineering instructor Alan Adler.
In 1984 Alan founded Superflight, Inc. to manufacture and sell his new invention, the record-breaking Aerobie flying ring. Then following the introduction of the wildly popular AeroPress coffee maker and with the growing fame of the Aerobie sport toy brand, he decided in 2005 to change the company name from Superflight to Aerobie, Inc.
For over a decade Aerobie, Inc. was known both for brewing delicious coffee and astonishing sport toy performance – an unusual pairing that drew a great deal of attention from every type of major media around the world.
Then in 2017 Alan sold the assets of the Aerobie sport toy brand to SwimWays, a subsidiary of Spin Master Ltd., and renamed the company AeroPress, Inc. to reflect its new focus on our coffee press. The delicious flavor of AeroPress brewed coffee is currently enjoyed in over 60 countries.
HONDURAS - ‘121’ Direct Trade
Farmer - Fausto Omar Lara
During my trip to Honduras in March 2019, I stayed a night at the ‘Cafe Capucas Cooperative’ where I was delighted to meet up with Fausto, the farmer of this coffee.
Cafe Capucas under the management of José Omar is a beautiful and diverse organisation which develops different projects all aimed at improving the quality of life of its producers.
Through the ‘121 Direct Trade’ project the farmer receives 70% of the cost of each bag we buy. Through an interpreter he told me:
“As a producer and member of the cooperative, I feel happy. Thanks for buying my coffee. It brings many benefits to my family. I have 3 kids to support and the extra money I receive helps them so they can study. I would also like to start a coffee shop in Honduras. Buying our coffee makes you ally and part of our family. We hope to continue our great partnership and I will continue to give my best coffee to you” - Fausto Omar Lara
